Music Camp

This week Evan was in Music camp with his buddies Bowen and Stevie. They also made a new friend in camp named Zach. Evan learned so much at camp and really seemed to have a great time. They made different instruments each day, learned about tone and rhythm, speed and some other music things I don't know about. I'm the opposite of musical. In addition, he ate lunch at school every day and ate his whole lunch, no protesting at all like last year. To cap off the week, they had a concert on Friday afternoon. That's where we can insert some serious mother's guilt. I didn't know that there was going to be a concert at the end of the week when I signed him up and I had to go to Wilmington, NC for work. So I missed it. Very possibly the first thing of his I have ever missed. Not exactly that big of a deal, it was a 30 minute show at the end of a week of camp. And Joe and Claire got to go. But upsetting for me all the same, I mean I missed my 4 year olds concert! Thankfully Joe had a feeling I would be slightly devastated and took 96 pictures of the event! He also avoided telling me that there was a concert until about 10 minutes before it, think he knew I was going to freak out a bit. He really is the best husband and father ever. To top it off, Evan then sang every song for me when I got home. So, in the end, with all the photos taken and personal concert I got when I arrived home, it was like I was almost there. No need for me to shed real tears.

And, wait wasn't this post supposed to be about Evan??? Looks like he had a blast during the show and was the ham he loves to be! Plus, I think since he had such a great experience, I'm going to sign him up for some pre-piano lessons to get him ready to start playing the piano, which he has to be 5 or 6 for. Can't just have great grandma's piano be for show :).

Check out Evan's new shoes-Storm Trooper Lightups!

Star Wars Lego Wii

To say that Evan is "into" Star Wars Lego Wii game is like saying that Scooby and Shaggy kind of like to eat. Obsessive is a much more accurate description. Evan and Joe play it for hours on end and have managed to earn every character there is. That's quite a feat, and quite a time commitment. He is so into it, he has manged to encourage at least 3 of his friends to get hooked on the game as well. Many apologies to my friends who also have to battle this situation!

The other day, I found Star Wars Lego pjs and knew a certain someone would pretty much fall over in love with them. Boy was I right, I got many huge hugs and a "thanks so much for thinking about me". The only thing Evan may like more than that game, is getting presents :). Here he is playing his game in his new pjs!

How can you not love this face?

Cousins

The older they get, the cuter they become. I just love them!

Girl Play

How cute are Claire and Caroline playing together? I love that Claire is starting to get old enough to "play" with friends!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Last Wednesday, I got to celebrate my birthday at home for the first time in at least the last 10 years. Joe, Evan and Claire spoiled me with french toast casserole for breakfast, chik fil a for lunch and then Joe and I went out to Ruths Chris for dinner! Joe and Evan even made me a chocolate pudding pie for my birthday cake, which was delicious. Diet should be beginning in the next few days :). They bought me such a beautiful new purse that I can use instead of a diaper bag because, yeah!, I am getting close to not needing one anymore!

My friends also spoiled me to a night out at a yummy sushi restaurant and a gift card to the Mall! Plus our friends the Overtons had us over the day after my birthday for dinner and cupcakes and mojito mix and my friend Rosie baked me cookies and gave me my new favorite drink, Skinny Girl Margaritas! I am a very lucky girl with wonderful family and friends!

It was a wonderful day, even if it means that I am now 33, well into my 30s!

Happy 6th Birthday Maxwell!

On Saturday we got to help Maxwell celebrate his 6th birthday at a fun remote controlled race car party. The kids (and parents) had a blast racing each other on the race track, eating pizza and cake. Maxwell especially seemed to enjoy winning and opening all of his fun presents! I cannot believe that he is already 6 years old. Happy Birthday Maxwell!!
