Spring Concert

Five Little Ducks

God Loves Me

Skidamarink

Evan's school class had their spring concert on Tuesday morning. It was just as adorable as his Christmas concert. Although, more of the kids in his class were into it this time, which was fun. Just like last time, Evan sang along and did all the motions to all of the songs.  He is quite the ham, still trying to figure out where that came from ;). They sang Skidamarink, which brought me back to my childhood and Brownies/Girl Scouts. They also sang Old Grey Cat, Monkeys and the Alligator, Five Little Ducks, Baby Bumblebee, God Made Me, Teddy Bear and Itsy Bitsy Spider. It was fun to hear all the words to the songs because Evan only sings a little bit of them at home.

Claire is 3 months

I feel like a broken record, but really, how does time go by so fast??? I cannot believe that little Claire is 3 months old. It has flown by. Although when I remember the delivery and recovery it does kind of seem like awhile ago.

Claire is still such a laid back, happy girl. We have been so lucky with her! She is a wonderful sleeper and is such a happy girl when she is awake. She is getting herself into more of a pattern these days and is taking about 3-4 naps a day. She is sleeping from 7:30pm to somewhere between 6-8am. If she gets up before 6:30am, she typically goes back to sleep for about 2 hours. She has been sleeping in her own room for about the last 3 weeks. She goes to bed awake and swaddled and she shimmies herself around a little bit and goes to sleep on her own.

She is still growing, although I feel like her growth has slowed down a little bit. Thank goodness or she would be in 2T by the end of the summer :)! She is about 15 1/2 pounds now, which is an unofficial figure I got from weighing her with me on my scale. She is mainly wearing size 3-6 mo dresses and 9 mo or 6-12 mo onsies, bathing suits, one piece outfits. She is wearing a size 2 diaper.

She eats 5-6 ounces of formula every 3 hours during the day and she doesn't spit up too much. She is getting really strong and is trying to roll over as hard as she can. She loves her play mat and really plays with the things that hang over her head. She loves looking into the mirror. She smiles and laughs out loud all the time. She is pretty good with tummy time and holds her head up really well. She loves to be looking around when you hold her and is getting very alert to her surroundings. She loves to suck on her fist, but does not take a pacifier or suck her thumb. She still loves her swing and is so content in it.  She still LOVES her bath. She seems to know when it is bath time and gets the biggest smile on her face as I carry her naked to the bathtub. She seems to enjoy the pool as well, but nothing is as big of a hit as her bath!

If you can believe it, her eyes are still blue. They are the same dark blue grey they've been since she was born. I'm starting to think that they will stay this way, or be hazel like my mom's. I really don't think she's going to end up with brown eyes like the rest of us. Her hair still hasn't really fallen out, nor has she gotten any more. Evan's hair started to grow in more around 6 mos, so I'm hoping for the same. Her hair is definitely lighter than it looks in pictures. I think once it comes in, it will be light brown or blonde.

She is just the most precious little girl and we love her so much. Happy 3 months little Claire bear!

Can you feel the love?

They are just too adorable for me! It's so great how much Evan loves Claire. She is really starting to notice him now and loves to smile at him. It won't be long before she loves him as much as he loves her.

Mom and Dad Escape!

A few cocktails in
Those horns are crazy, glad none of those cattle got too close to me
Check out the longhorns on the car, I may try that on my van. What do you think?
Jackie, Marvin and I enjoyed a few beers at the Love Shack in the Fort Worth Stockyards

Joe and I had to go to Fort Worth last weekend for work. At first I was really bummed I had to go, I wasn't sure I would be able to leave the kids. But then Peggy came down to watch them and I knew that they couldn't be in better hands. I got to fly on a plane without a child for the first time in 3 1/2 years and it was a tad bit glorious! We ended up having a good time and I even got in a little sight seeing in the 36 hours we were gone. Of course I missed the kids, but I must say it was nice getting away for a little while.

My little fishes

Evan and Claire both love the pool which makes a very happy momma since I love it too! Peggy came down last weekend to watch the kids while Joe and I went to Fort Worth, Texas. The kids had a great time with her and I knew that they were in wonderful hands while we were away.

It also worked out because I could take a picture of both Claire and Evan in the pool! And I didn't have to be in it in a bathing suit-even better :)!

Cousins

I got to watch Audrey the other day and she and Claire enjoyed "playing" together. They will be really playing together in no time though. I can't wait for the tea parties and dance recitals! Love this adorable dress too, thanks Abby!

Loving this outfit

This outfit was a gift from Peggy's best friend Mary. I love it! It is over the top girly and southern, but is just adorable :)!

Daddy's girl

I think she's already got him wrapped around her finger!

Swim Lessons

We've got Evan back in swim lessons this year. However, this time they are more focused on stroke development, instead of learning how to survive if he were to fall in. He's doing a great job and is able to swim with his legs kicking and his arms moving. He'll be on the swim team before you know it! Here he is with his friend Bowen who is also in his class. Evan is so happy to have him taking lessons with him!

Happy Mother's Day

On this Mother's Day, I have twice the reason to be blessed! Evan and Claire, I love you both so much and am honored to be your mother. Being your mom is a the most wonderful experience. You have taught me so much about life and brought me more joy than I knew possible. I pray each day that I can be the best mom to you and thank God for the two most beautiful blessings he has given me.  I love you!

Reading

Evan has really been interested in reading for the last  6 months or so. His favorite show, Word World, definitely got him interested, but only took us so far. So I've been using Hooked on Phonics and it's really been working. I can't believe he is reading this well at 3 and a few months! He loves it and wants to do his workbook all the time. It's impressive he has such a long attention span for this. But while he does, I'm taking full advantage and running with his interest. It's a perfect thing for me to do with him while I'm feeding and holding Claire.
