Injured
Last week was a tough week for Evan (and me!). First, he fell out of the trampoline and I thought he may have broken his wrist. Thankfully, a little ice and Jake and the Neverland Pirates cleared that injury right up. Then, the next day, he shatters a martini glass at a friends house and then walks right through the glass hysterically crying because he knew he did something wrong. As you can imagine, he sliced the bottom of his foot right open. Thanks to the help of many other moms present, I surprisingly stayed calm and took care of his foot. Thankfully there was no glass inside his foot and after the blood stopped flowing, I was able to coax him to wear a bandaid, we were thankfully able to avoid the ER. Uncle Charlie came over the next day to inspect the wound and bandaged it up for him so he could walk on it better. By the end of the following day, he was running around like nothing had happened. Thank goodness! But, for drama's sake (he is MY son), we had to take some pictures to remember the injury!
Easter Bunny
We took the kids to see the Easter Bunny this morning. Evan was so excited to see the Easter Bunny and tell him about all the different light sabers and Star Wars toys he would like for Easter. Claire, on the other hand, was less thrilled to see the big bunny. She kind of freaked out on his lap, so got placed on the other side of Evan. She was much happier with her big brother protecting her. The two look pretty cute. Happy Easter!

My 1st 5K!
This past Saturday I ran (yes me, I ran!) my first 5K! Thank you to my friends Abby and Rosie who motivated me to run it. Peer pressure for a good cause! They kind of kept me accountable for all the claims I was making that I wanted to run one. They signed up and then I kind of had to! Despite training very minimally, I actually ran the whole thing minus one 2 minute walk. I was pretty impressed, since a 5K is 3.1 miles! It was a beautiful run through Winderemere under all the shady trees and along the water. My good friend from college, Caroline, was in town too, so I pressured her into running as well. Abby, Caroline and I all ran together and it was very motivating to keep going. I felt great afterward, and then threw my neck/back out the next day. Surely the two aren't related! Ha, I am getting old! But I will most definitely do another one and am now encouraged to run a little more frequently (once this whole neck/back thing clears up...).
So, my much wittier and funnier friend Abby also posted about our run on her blog and it's hilarious. I had to include the link because, well she's just honest and reading this post cracks me up! http://starstromfamily.blogspot.com/2011/04/yeah-we-are-pretty-much-bad-runners.html
Sadly, I have no pictures of Evan, but he ran the kids fun run the same day. He was so excited to be like Kid Flash, and did a great job running.

Evan's Preschool Picture
I said I wasn't going to buy his school picture this year. I mean who really needs a 3 year old preschool picture? And I only take pictures of him every 5 minutes. But of course, the number one thing I've learned since becoming a parent-Never say Never until it you are in it as a parent. One look at this face and I was mush! He not only looks so handsome, he looks so old! When did my little man grow up??
Carrying a bag!
Not only is she walking now, she's carrying a bag around with her too, just like Mommy! She is just too darn cute!

Our fish
Here is Evan swimming at the pool this week. We start lessons again in April or May (still have to sign up), hopefully he'll learn how to breathe correctly and maybe learn some new strokes! Maybe he'll want to be on the swim team. Being on the swim team is one of my fondest childhood memories.
Go O's
As part of our Spring Break Trip, we went to Sarasota to see the O's play the Tigers. Last year was the Orioles' first Spring Training year in Sarasota and the stadium was in poor condition. What a difference a year makes, the stadium is beautiful! They did such a nice job with it. Claire and I got to see almost the whole thing, since she had no interest in sitting and watching the game. She made friends everywhere we walked around that stadium, every one working there loved her cheer leading outfit and her big smile. Her flirting even scored me a free Corona! She and I had a great time seeing the game from every corner of the stadium, while Joe and Evan got to see the Oriole's hit a grand slam and a 3 run homer in the first 2 innings. The score was 13-0 (Orioles winning) at the end of the 2nd inning! What a game! Evan was bummed he didn't get to catch a foul ball, but was pretty excited about his foam finger.
Let's hope the O's continue that great playing into the regular season! Go Orioles!
